You WILL have to file/grind for nut clearance on intake to head studs. Instructions lacking, carbs seem OK. Be prepared to tweak a lot.

Finally got these installed onto my engine (69 bug). I mounted everything while I had the engine out of the car to make adjustments easier. The only modifications I had to make was to bend the fan shroud to give more clearance for the drivers side air cleaner as well as grinding some of the material around the base of the intake manifolds so that I can get a 13mm socket around the nut. I also had to take a bit of material off the drivers side carb to clear the fan shroud. After bolting everything up and eye-balling the linkage adjustment. it fired up perfectly and actually idled quite nicely. I didn't open them up or basically rebuild them like many have claimed is necessary with EMPI carbs. I'm very happy with them so far and can't wait to get the engine back in to enjoy them on the road.
I will say that one of the "down rods" had bad threads and had to be replaced. Thanks to JusBugs for going the extra yard to get me a replacement as soon as possible

Empi has much improved their carb set ups. It was complete and the castings are much better except for the intake manifolds which I'm sure would work right out the box but I would prefer to see cleaned up a bit better.
